• This initiative involves the implementation of the Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) methodology as part of a Carbon Project aimed at optimizing water use efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in agricultural practices.

• The role is based in the Greater Accra, Volta, Northern, and Upper East Regions of Ghana.

Duties are performed under the supervision of the Project Manager, to whom the position is accountable for all assigned tasks and deliverables.

Oversee the execution of project activities within the designated region, ensuring strict adherence to approved work plans, established timelines, allocated budgets, and applicable carbon standards, including Terra, Gold Standard, or other relevant certification frameworks.

Support the rollout and integration of Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD), climate-smart agriculture, regenerative agriculture, and sustainable rice production methods among enrolled farmers.

Engage rice farmers, Water User Associations (Was), community leaders, and other stakeholders to mobilize and facilitate the effective implementation and participation in the project.

Organize and lead training programs, demonstration plots, and hands-on farmer field learning sessions focused on sustainable agriculture techniques, effective crop management strategies, optimal water utilization, Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) practices, and additional climate-smart agricultural interventions.

Facilitate the installation, ongoing monitoring, and maintenance of AWD tubes, sensors, and additional field technologies, while also providing support for the deployment and utilization of digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems.

Coordinate field data collection efforts and ensure the monitoring of key project indicators, including soil organic carbon (SOC), greenhouse gas emission reductions, water usage, crop yields, and farm management practices, all of which are essential for accurate carbon accounting and verification processes.

Maintain precise documentation and records for projects, ensuring databases and files align with carbon certification criteria and established reporting standards.

Develop and sustain productive partnerships with GINA regional offices, District Assemblies, traditional authorities, farmer organizations, community stakeholders, and project collaborators.

Prepare and deliver accurate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, encompassing project progress updates, field activity records, success stories, lessons learned, as well as detailed documentation of challenges faced and milestones achieved.

Support the validation, verification, and audit processes of projects while assisting in the preparation of reports and documentation as mandated by project partners, carbon certification bodies, auditors, and validators.

Identify potential risks associated with implementation, formulate appropriate mitigation strategies, and facilitate the efficient resolution of operational issues.

Ensure adherence to environmental and social safeguards, donor mandates, project protocols, and all relevant regulatory as well as carbon market standards.

Supervise and mentor field officers, community facilitators, enumerators, and related project staff to uphold the highest standards of project execution and ensure the successful attainment of established project goals.

Required Competencies: Proficiency in [specific tools/software, e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, or industry-specific applications].
