The Head of Education will lead and motivate our skilled team of education specialists, developing impactful content to engage Catalysts through peer learning hubs and in-person sessions while upholding our core educational principles—creativity, problem-solving, and inclusion.

The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership in managing programs and teams, with a proven track record in overseeing educational initiatives, curricula development, and event coordination. They will combine empathetic leadership with a strong sense of accountability, leveraging monitoring, evaluation, and learning tools to drive goal attainment while continuously integrating insights into their strategic approach.

We seek a candidate with extensive expertise in delivering education across both classroom and community settings. Ideally, this individual will be a seasoned practitioner, equipped with the creativity and instructional design skills to independently enhance educational resources and programs in alignment with established learning objectives. Oversees and executes a comprehensive range of key duties and responsibilities central to the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role involves providing high-level strategic and operational support to facilitate executive decision-making and ensure alignment with organizational goals. The position requires a senior professional with extensive experience in executive assistance, capable of managing complex schedules, prioritizing critical tasks, and serving as a confidential liaison between the CEO and key stakeholders. Strong communication, discretion, and the ability to anticipate needs are essential, along with proficiency in advanced office technologies and executive-level coordination.

• Full-time position, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week.

A competitive salary within the ‘Head of’ compensation band, ranging from 8,000 to 12,000 Cedis gross per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

You will be responsible for the daily operations of our Education Hub, providing leadership to a team of five Program Coordinators and an Ecosystem Specialist. Together, they collaborate with over 400 voluntary Catalysts to deliver community-based clubs focused on early years’ literacy, digital skills, STEM, environmental sustainability, gender equity, and Keeping Spots Safe initiatives.

Offer visionary leadership and comprehensive feedback in every facet of our educational services, ensuring meticulous oversight of curriculum development within our learner clubs.

Spearhead the integration of our ten foundational pedagogical principles—spanning inclusivity, collaboration, creativity, playfulness, digital engagement, community ties, transformative learning, youth leadership, subject expertise, and Keeping Spots Safe—through targeted observation, structured training initiatives, and the strategic deployment of EDU-Animation.

To facilitate the advancement of the Despots App, WhatsApp for Learning, Online Courses, and other initiatives under the Despots Unlocked initiative—all pivotal tools driving educational transformation.

Support the creation of training materials and supplementary content for leadership programs designed for Catalysts, contributing to the Educates Program within the Catalysts domain.

• Safeguarding children and promoting inclusion remain central to all educational planning, with particular oversight of the implementation and advancement of our Keeping Spots Safe education program.

To assist in developing handbooks, educational resources, animations, and PowerPoint presentations in alignment with specified impact objectives.

Providing assistance in the oversight and assessment of our initiatives, this role involves contributing to the development of program reports.

Spearheading the professional growth and performance evaluations of our education-focused staff team, as well as the broader team, within the education domain.

As a pivotal member of the leadership team, you will contribute strategic expertise to the organization’s development, ensuring informed decision-making and long-term growth.

To manage all reporting obligations for education-focused funders, this role will be responsible for submitting quarterly reports to trustees for both the Education Hub and the Keeping Spots Safe education initiative.

To collaborate with the CEO and Educational Partnerships Manager in cultivating impactful partnerships in the education sector, assisting in the strategic cultivation of partnerships, including key engagements with trusts and foundations, corporations, and other donors who share an interest in our educational initiatives.

To perform any additional responsibilities deemed necessary for the position, thereby contributing to the overall objectives of the organization.

To ensure consistent adherence to the standards outlined in the Staff & Volunteers Handbook and all applicable policies and procedures in all professional interactions and duties.

Required competencies include strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, and Python, and excellent communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams. Candidates must demonstrate experience in project management, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies is preferred, along with the capacity to mentor junior team members and lead by example. Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure and a solid understanding of DevOps principles are additional assets.
