This fixed-term contract role is stationed in Quasi and offers a competitive shift schedule at our operations site. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing radio communication systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and reliably. This role requires proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues, performing regular inspections, and conducting system upgrades as needed. You must have a strong understanding of radio frequency (RF) principles, telecommunications protocols, and FCC regulations. Additionally, you should be able to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and system documentation to diagnose and resolve complex issues. Experience with two-way radios, repeaters, and networked communication systems is essential. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team are required. You will collaborate with engineers, field technicians, and other stakeholders to optimize system performance and ensure seamless communication operations.

The position, which reports directly to the Electrical Foreman, involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of radio communication systems and associated equipment utilized in mining operations. This role is essential for guaranteeing uninterrupted communication among operational teams, thereby enhancing safety, operational efficiency, and on-site coordination.

Oversee a wide range of critical tasks and strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational excellence. Lead and execute key responsibilities, including the development and implementation of policies, processes, and performance standards to enhance productivity and efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project completion, resolve operational challenges, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators to assess progress, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions as needed. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal guidelines while maintaining a focus on risk management and quality assurance. Install, configure, and conduct thorough testing of radio communication equipment, such as handheld radios, base stations, repeaters, antennas, and related systems.

Perform proactive maintenance and systematic inspections on radio communication systems to verify and sustain peak operational performance.

Diagnose and resolve communication equipment malfunctions in radio systems with urgency and precision.

Replace or restore defective parts to reduce operational interruptions and maintain system reliability.

Responsibilities include performing firmware and software updates for communication systems whenever necessary to ensure optimal functionality and security.

Monitor radio frequency (RF) networks to identify potential interference and verify adherence to regulatory standards.

Responsible for meticulously documenting and updating records pertaining to equipment inventory, repair histories, and scheduled maintenance activities.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering from an accredited university, complemented by a minimum of five years of professional experience in Hard Rock Underground Mines. Alternatively, candidates may qualify with a Diploma in Electrical/Electronic or Telecommunication Engineering, provided they have at least a decade of relevant experience in the same mining environment.
