We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to lead our Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) Carbon Project, a critical initiative focused on sustainable agricultural practices and carbon sequestration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing project implementation, ensuring adherence to environmental standards, and maximizing carbon reduction outcomes. Duties are carried out under the direct supervision of the Project Manager.
Oversee the execution of project initiatives across the designated region, ensuring strict adherence to approved work plans, established timelines, allocated budgets, and recognized carbon standards—including but not limited to Terra, Gold Standard, or other pertinent certification frameworks.
Provide assistance in the execution and integration of Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD), climate-smart agriculture, regenerative agriculture, and sustainable rice production methodologies among enrolled farmers.
Engage and mobilize rice farmers, Water User Associations (Was), community leaders, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure active participation and seamless project execution.
Organize and lead training sessions, demonstration plots, and farmer field learning activities focused on sustainable agriculture, crop management, efficient water utilization, Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) practices, and additional climate-smart interventions.
Responsibilities include overseeing the installation, operation, and upkeep of AWD tubes, sensors, and related field technologies, as well as providing technical assistance for the implementation and utilization of digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems.
Coordinate field data collection efforts and ensure the accurate monitoring of soil organic carbon levels, greenhouse gas emission reductions, water usage, crop yields, farm management practices, and additional project indicators essential for carbon accounting and verification processes.
Maintain precise project records, databases, and documentation while ensuring compliance with carbon certification requirements and established project reporting standards.
Develop and nurture robust collaborative partnerships with GINA regional offices, District Assemblies, traditional authorities, farmer organizations, community stakeholders, and project collaborators.
Prepare and submit comprehensive reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, encompassing project progress updates, field activity summaries, success stories, lessons learned, and detailed documentation of challenges encountered and milestones achieved.
Support the validation, verification, and audit processes of projects while assisting with the preparation of reports and documentation mandated by project partners, carbon certification bodies, auditors, and validators.
• Assess potential risks related to implementation, formulate strategies to mitigate them, and facilitate the efficient resolution of operational issues.
Ensure adherence to environmental and social safeguards, donor stipulations, project protocols, and all relevant regulatory and carbon market frameworks.
Supervise and mentor field officers, community facilitators, enumerators, and other relevant project personnel to uphold the highest standards of project execution and successfully attain project goals.
