MAA is actively recruiting skilled, experienced, and driven Electrical – Instrumentation Technicians, Radio Technicians, and Auto Electricians to strengthen our team. Performing maintenance and repair tasks for radio communication systems, the Radio Communication Technician ensures optimal functionality of equipment, including transmitters, receivers, and antennas. Responsible for diagnosing technical issues, troubleshooting malfunctions, and conducting routine inspections, they calibrate devices to meet performance standards and regulatory compliance. Installation of new systems, configuration of software, and integration with existing networks are also part of their duties. Additionally, they document maintenance activities, maintain inventory of spare parts, and coordinate with team members to uphold operational efficiency. A strong understanding of electronic principles, proficiency in diagnostic tools, and adherence to safety protocols are essential for this role.

Reporting to the Electrical Foreman, the ideal candidate will be tasked with the installation, maintenance, and repair of radio communication systems and related equipment utilized in mining operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring uninterrupted communication among operational teams, thereby enhancing safety protocols, operational efficiency, and on-site coordination.

Oversee and execute a range of critical tasks and operational functions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and maintaining high standards of performance. Deliver strategic leadership by managing teams, driving process improvements, and fostering a culture of accountability and innovation. Monitor project milestones, assess outcomes, and provide actionable insights to senior management to support informed decision-making. Collaborate cross-functionally to streamline workflows, optimize resource allocation, and enhance productivity across departments. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to uphold compliance, mitigate risks, and promote operational excellence. Serve as a key liaison between leadership, employees, and external stakeholders to facilitate clear communication and drive collective success.

Install, configure, and validate the functionality of radio communication systems, encompassing handheld radios, base stations, repeaters, antennas, and related components.

Perform preventive maintenance and regular inspections on radio communication systems to verify and maintain their optimal performance.

Efficiently identify and address any malfunctions or operational challenges affecting radio communication systems with urgency and precision.

Replace or repair malfunctioning parts promptly to reduce operational interruptions and maintain system efficiency.

Update firmware and software for communication systems on a regular basis to maintain optimal performance and ensure all components are current with the latest advancements and security patches.

• Conduct ongoing surveillance of radio frequency (RF) networks to detect interference and verify adherence to regulatory requirements.

Maintain precise documentation of equipment inventories, repair logs, and scheduled maintenance activities.

Deliver comprehensive training sessions and technical assistance to users of radio communication equipment.

• Maintain communication devices with care to optimize their operational longevity and reliability.

Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and regulatory standards when operating communication equipment.

Ensure adherence to both local and international communication standards to maintain consistency and regulatory compliance.

Ensure safety by strictly complying with all established mining safety protocols, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and following established safety guidelines to prevent accidents.

Applicants are required to hold a current Ghanaian driving license, specifically Classes C and E, and must demonstrate proficiency in operating manual transmission SUVs in underground settings.

Experienced in radio communication systems, including VHF/UHF radios and RF equipment.

Able to collaborate effectively with both operational and non-operational staff, as well as contractors, by utilizing exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities to drive engagement and influence outcomes.

• Proficiency in the Mining Act and its associated regulatory frameworks in the Republic of Ghana is essential.

Proficient in utilizing signal analysis tools and diagnostic equipment effectively.

Proficient in analyzing and comprehending technical manuals and schematics with precision and clarity.
