A private hospital seeks a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to conduct, facilitate, and contribute to the thorough processing, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of laboratory test results from received specimens within the Laboratory department. This role supports clinical technical services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care through accurate and timely diagnostic evaluations.

Key Responsibilties

Maintains effective communication and fosters strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment toward shared objectives.

Conduct tests and execute procedures in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and instruct colleagues on proper execution.

Perform analytical duties promptly while managing strict deadlines and provide guidance to junior laboratory personnel operating under your direction.

Accurately and safely perform routine maintenance and functionality tests on equipment with minimal oversight, promptly reporting any malfunctions or issues to the Unit Supervisor.

Adhere to established protocols while upholding personal accountability to ensure the laboratory equipment and facilities remain in optimal working condition.

Utilize the laboratory computer system to conduct data entry, manage records, generate reports, and ensure accurate processing of laboratory information. This role requires proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIES) or equivalent software, along with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and maintain system integrity. Additionally, the position involves verifying data accuracy, performing routine system backups, and adhering to compliance protocols for data security and confidentiality. Strong attention to detail and technical competency are essential to support efficient laboratory operations.

Input requests are processed, and corresponding patient records are accurately matched to ensure seamless integration and adherence to established protocols.

Compile findings and produce formatted printed reports for dissemination.

Develop comprehensive worksheet listings, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in compiling relevant data and information for efficient distribution and reference.

Conduct thorough analyses to accurately identify microbial organisms through standardized testing procedures.

Perform antimicrobial susceptibility testing as required, ensuring accurate and timely results to guide appropriate treatment decisions.

Skilled in operating a variety of automated machinery and manual methods with precision and adaptability.

Conduct assays utilizing relevant analyzers while interpreting the significance and implications of the resulting data.

Perform necessary quality inspections and accurately document findings on the appropriate quality record sheets.

Perform any additional duties or responsibilities as assigned by the facility head.

Ensure clear and consistent communication with colleagues, other professional teams, and clients to foster collaboration and alignment.

Exhibits strong collaboration skills in a diverse healthcare team environment within the facility.

Collaborate effectively with Laboratory Attendants and other Laboratory Assistants in a professional and cooperative manner.

Required Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is essential for this position. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders. Holders of a Technician Diploma or Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology are required.

Requires a minimum of one (1) year of practical, field-based experience.

Demonstrated expertise and a consistent track record of achievement within laboratory operations and research environments are essential.

Demonstrates a thorough understanding and consistent application of ethical codes and protocols within laboratory medicine.
