The hospital seeks a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician to manage and support the accurate processing, analysis, and interpretation of laboratory test results on received specimens. Conduct analytical assignments promptly while providing guidance and support to junior laboratory personnel under your supervision.

Perform routine maintenance and operational inspections on equipment with precision and safety, operating independently or under minimal supervision, and promptly report any faults to the Unit Supervisor.

Adhere rigorously to established protocols while upholding a personal duty of care to ensure laboratory equipment and facilities remain in optimal working condition.

Utilize the laboratory computer system to execute tasks including, but not limited to, data entry, sample tracking, and report generation. Ensure accurate and efficient operation of all software applications integral to laboratory workflows. Maintain system integrity by performing regular updates, troubleshooting technical issues, and adhering to established protocols. Verify data consistency and completeness prior to finalizing any reports or documentation. Collaborate with laboratory staff to optimize system performance and support data-driven decision-making processes.

• Process incoming requests and accurately associate them with corresponding patient records as needed.

Input findings into the system and produce formal, printed documentation summarizing the results.

• Develop and compile comprehensive worksheets or lists to streamline data organization and retrieval.

Conduct thorough examinations to accurately verify the identity of microorganisms through prescribed testing methodologies.

Conduct antimicrobial sensitivity tests as required to determine the effectiveness of various antimicrobial agents against specific pathogens.

Proficient in operating a diverse set of automated machinery as well as employing manual methods to execute tasks efficiently.

Conduct assays utilizing suitable analyzers while analyzing the importance and potential impacts of the resulting data.

Perform necessary quality inspections and accurately document findings on the prescribed quality record sheets.

Execute any additional tasks or assignments as instructed by the facility manager, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards.

Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills by fostering clear, consistent, and professional communication with colleagues, external professional networks, and clients.

Skilled in collaborating productively within a diverse team of healthcare professionals at the facility.

Collaborate effectively with Laboratory Attendants and other Laboratory Assistants in a professional and team-oriented manner.

Participate actively and contribute meaningfully during staff meetings to ensure productive discussions and collaborative decision-making.

Maintain a personal performance log as well as an in-service training record, both of which will be utilized during appraisal evaluations.
