Supported by the European Union, Corinth initiated the Gold for Good project in northern Ghana earlier this year, focusing on enhancing conflict-sensitive governance, environmental accountability, and institutional coordination in regions impacted by artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM). The project seeks to bolster the operational capabilities of local authorities, security personnel, and regulatory bodies, fostering responsible natural resource stewardship and harmonious community relations.

Corinth seeks to appoint a Technical Coordinator for Peace and Security to oversee the technical and operational preparedness of this upcoming initiative, focusing on security protocols, enforcement strategies, and conflict prevention measures.

Oversee a diverse array of critical tasks, ensuring operational excellence and adherence to established protocols. The role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently. Responsibilities include coordinating cross-functional teams, optimizing workflows, and maintaining accurate documentation to support informed decision-making. Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, the Technical Coordinator for Peace and Security will spearhead technical initiatives, facilitate coordination efforts, and uphold quality assurance standards concerning security governance, law enforcement collaboration, and conflict-sensitive artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) management.

This individual will collaborate with local authorities, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders to establish unified, rights-based, and trust-enhancing enforcement and oversight mechanisms for natural resource governance.

Technical leadership and coordination are essential for overseeing projects, guiding teams, and ensuring seamless integration of systems. This role demands strategic planning, clear communication, and the ability to align technical efforts with business objectives. • Title: Technical Coordinator for Peace and Security

Bole, Ghana serves as the primary work location for this role, with regular travel to northern districts as part of the job responsibilities.

A 12-month contract duration is required for this position.

• The position requires full-time commitment, totaling 100% of available working hours.

Serves as a direct report to the Operations Manager, providing oversight and coordination of assigned tasks to ensure alignment with operational goals.

Offer expert technical advice on the peace and security aspects related to the governance of natural resources and artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM).

Spearhead the strategic planning and execution of diagnostics, capacity evaluations, and institutional assessments across designated districts, ensuring robust oversight and alignment with organizational objectives.

Collaborate seamlessly with law enforcement, environmental, and regulatory stakeholders to strengthen accountability and optimize operational outcomes.

Ensure all diagnostics, training programs, action plans, and tools created throughout the project adhere to stringent technical and methodological requirements.

Ensure that conflict sensitivity, human rights, gender considerations, and environmental safeguards are fully integrated into all interventions.

Support the development and implementation of inter-agency coordination frameworks involving District Assemblies (DISEC’s), Metropolitan and Municipal Assemblies (DMCs), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Minerals Commission, law enforcement agencies such as the Police and Immigration, as well as traditional authorities.

Provide appropriate assistance in integrating project deliverables into relevant district and national frameworks, such as ASM Action Plans, DMC structures, and EPA monitoring systems.

Review technical reports, training modules, and consultant deliverables to ensure their accuracy and compliance with established standards.

Responsibilities include leading the creation and implementation of customized training initiatives aimed at enforcement personnel, environmental specialists, and governance professionals.

Coordinate or assist in leading technical workshops and train-the-trainer programs as needed.

Offer expert technical guidance and mentorship to district-level educational institutions, such as District Monitoring Committees (DMCs), District Institutes of Education and Training (DISEC’s), and School Management Committees (Assemblies), ensuring effective implementation of initiatives and fostering professional development.

Provide assistance to collaborative field initiatives, regulatory inspection activities, and environmental assessment missions conducted by multiple agencies.
