Context and justification

Funded by the European Union, Corinth initiated the Gold for Good project in early 2024 across northern Ghana, designed to enhance governance sensitive to conflict, foster environmental accountability, and improve institutional coordination in regions impacted by artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM). This initiative seeks to bolster the operational capabilities of local authorities, security personnel, and regulatory bodies, thereby advancing responsible natural resource stewardship and fostering harmonious community interactions.

To maintain technical and operational preparedness, Corinth is seeking a Technical Coordinator for Peace and Security to spearhead the security, enforcement, and conflict prevention aspects of this upcoming initiative.

Oversee and execute essential duties encompassing strategic planning, operational management, and cross-functional coordination, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and fostering collaborative partnerships. Implement policies and procedures to optimize workflow efficiency, mitigate risks, and enhance productivity across departments. Analyze performance metrics, identify KPIs, and present actionable insights to senior leadership to drive continuous improvement. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, cultivating a culture of accountability, innovation, and professional development. Represent the organization in external engagements, including stakeholder meetings, industry conferences, and community initiatives, to strengthen brand reputation and facilitate growth opportunities.

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Technical Coordinator – Peace and Security will deliver expert technical guidance, oversee coordination efforts, and uphold quality assurance standards concerning security governance, law enforcement collaboration, and conflict-sensitive artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) management.

The incumbent will collaborate with local authorities, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders to implement unified, rights-centered, and relationship-building strategies for the enforcement and oversight of natural resource governance.

Provides strategic technical leadership and oversees coordination efforts across projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering collaboration among cross-functional teams to drive efficient execution and innovation.

We provide capacity-building training initiatives and technical assistance to enhance operational effectiveness and support sustainable development goals. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Technical Coordinator in the field of Peace and Security. Relocated to Bole, Ghana, this role necessitates regular travel to northern districts to support field operations.

The assignment is scheduled for a period of twelve months.

We are seeking a full-time professional to join our team, occupying a position that requires a 100% time commitment.

Serves as a direct report to the Operations Manager, providing oversight and coordination of daily activities to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to established protocols.

Offer expert counsel on the technical aspects of peace and security within the frameworks of natural resource and artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) governance.

Oversee the strategic planning and execution of diagnostics, capacity evaluations, and institutional assessments within designated districts.

Collaborate with law enforcement, environmental, and regulatory agencies to strengthen accountability and improve operational efficiency.

Ensure that all diagnostics, training programs, action plans, and tools created within the project adhere to strict technical and methodological criteria.

Ensure that conflict sensitivity, human rights, gender considerations, and environmental safeguards are comprehensively integrated into all interventions.

Support the establishment and execution of inter-agency coordination frameworks that involve DISEC’s, DMCs, EPA, Minerals Commission, Police, Immigration, and traditional authorities.

Provide support, as suitable, for the integration of project deliverables into relevant district and national frameworks, such as ASM Action Plans, DMC structures, and EPA monitoring systems.

Review technical reports, training modules, and consultant deliverables to ensure their accuracy and compliance with established standards.

• Responsible for developing and implementing customized training initiatives for professionals in enforcement, environmental, and governance sectors.

Coordinate or collaborate in delivering technical workshops and training-of-trainers sessions as needed.

Provide technical support and mentorship to district-level institutions such as District Monitoring Committees (DMCs), District Inspectorates of Schools (DISEC’s), and local assemblies.

Provide assistance during interagency field operations, inspection assignments, and environmental monitoring visits.

Develop and implement strategies that are rooted in community engagement, uphold human rights principles, and are attentive to the specific security and governance dynamics of the local area.

• Ensure the accuracy and quality of technical outputs, training materials, and consultant deliverables through thorough review and validation.

Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) framework by conducting technical data collection and performing detailed analysis.

Document and share insights gleaned from enforcement activities and community outreach, ensuring these findings are effectively communicated to relevant stakeholders.

Contribute to the enhancement and refinement of intervention strategies through ongoing adaptive management and continuous improvement initiatives.

Serve as the primary liaison among Corinth, academic collaborators such as Mat, regulatory bodies, and local organizations to address technical concerns.

Translate field data, assessments, and research findings into clear, actionable operational recommendations to drive informed decision-making and strategic improvements.

Collaborate on the mid-term review process and final assessment by identifying and documenting evidence-based lessons learned.

This role is offered on a temporary basis for a fixed-term period.
