JOB DESCRIPTION:

MAA is currently recruiting skilled, seasoned, and driven Electrical – Instrumentation Technicians, Radio Technicians, and Auto Electricians to strengthen its workforce in Quasi. Electrical– Instrumentation Technician

Reporting to the Electrical Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for their safety and the safety of their co-workers while maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all electrical systems and equipment underground. The incumbent will focus strongly on compliance to ensure all personnel including employees and subcontractors have the required competencies to work safely and efficiently.

Oversee and execute a range of critical duties and responsibilities integral to the role, ensuring adherence to established protocols and achieving operational excellence. Engage in strategic planning and day-to-day management to foster productivity, efficiency, and collaboration across teams. Address and resolve complex challenges while maintaining high standards of accuracy, compliance, and professionalism. Collaborate with stakeholders to align objectives, streamline processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure meticulous documentation and reporting to support informed decision-making and organizational growth. Demonstrate leadership by guiding teams toward shared goals and fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.

• Safely and effectively perform preventive maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of motors and controls, process controls and instru- mentation

• Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on underground fixed plant instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems; disassembles and replaces worn or broken parts; realigns equipment.

• Operates process calibrators and controllers to configure, program, calibrate, and start-up plant instrumentation and control systems.

Conduct thorough examinations of electrical equipment, electronic systems, and telemetry devices to verify functional integrity and operational efficiency.

Suggest enhancements to instrumentation and control systems to improve performance, efficiency, and reliability.

Programming, diagnosing issues, and resolving malfunctions in electrical equipment are essential responsibilities.

Perform scheduled electrical maintenance tasks in strict adherence to manufacturer guidelines, the Electrical Code, and established company and client operational protocols and safety standards.

• Identify and organize the resources required for each job such as tools and other equipment, additional personnel or assistants, to ensure the efficient and timely completion of tasks and to maximize productivity.

• Complete all service sheets and document additional repairs performed on each task

Diagnose existing and impending issues, offering proactive recommendations to resolve them and avert potential failures before they arise.

• Read and interpret service and spare parts manuals

Conduct routine assessments of systems and essential tools to ensure operational integrity and compliance with established standards.

• Be open to learning new methods and be willing to share your skills and knowledge with co-workers

Ensure meticulous cleanliness and organization throughout the retail environment and at all job locations to uphold superior housekeeping standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from a reputable university, along with at least five years of professional experience in Hard Rock Underground Mines, is required. Alternatively, a Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering combined with a minimum of ten years of relevant work experience in Hard Rock Underground Mines may be considered.

• Must be conversant with the Mining Act and related regulations of the Republic of Ghana.

Applicants must hold a current Ghanaian driver’s license, specifically Classes C and E, and demonstrate proficiency in operating manual transmission SUVs in underground environments.

• Proven capability to effectively collaborate and communicate with both operational and non-operational employees, as well as contractors, showcasing strong interpersonal and communication skills.
