JOB DESCRIPTION:

MAA is currently recruiting skilled, seasoned, and driven Electrical – Instrumentation Technicians, Radio Technicians, and Auto Electricians to strengthen our team. This fixed-term contract position is based in Quasi, offering a competitive work schedule at our operational site. Highly skilled Auto Electricians diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical systems in vehicles, ensuring optimal functionality and safety. They troubleshoot complex wiring issues, install and upgrade electrical components such as alternators, starters, and battery systems, and perform comprehensive inspections to identify faults. Proficiency in reading wiring diagrams, using diagnostic tools, and interpreting electrical schematics is essential, along with a deep understanding of automotive electrical systems. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, strong problem-solving abilities, and prior experience in auto electrical repair. Familiarity with hybrid and electric vehicle systems is advantageous. An Auto Electrician is tasked with installing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing electrical and electronic systems in mining vehicles and heavy mobile equipment.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of critical duties and obligations, ensuring adherence to established protocols and organizational standards. Assume responsibility for delivering high-quality outcomes across key functional areas, while maintaining alignment with strategic objectives and performance metrics. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence, foster innovation, and address evolving business needs. Demonstrate proficiency in managing complex tasks, prioritizing workloads efficiently, and upholding accountability for results within defined timelines. Investigate, diagnose, and execute trade-related maintenance and repair tasks on equipment and machinery in strict accordance with specified maintenance requirements to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Perform all preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance tasks on underground mobile equipment to ensure operational reliability and safety.

Perform electrical fault and failure diagnostics as necessary.

Responsible for accurately identifying required components and procuring them in a timely manner to support operational needs.

Maintaining a strong commitment to health and safety standards at all times is essential.

Review and address any deficiencies noted in pre-start reports, breakdown sheets, and over-inspection reports.

Conduct thorough re-inspections of equipment installations performed by apprentices and operatives when necessary, offering constructive feedback and guidance to ensure quality and compliance with established standards.

All defects and equipment malfunctions must be promptly reported to the Supervisor for immediate attention and resolution.

Offer constructive input to supervisors and colleagues about the functionality and state of equipment to enhance operational efficiency and safety.

Develop, modify, construct, and install the necessary equipment to ensure the safe operation of all machinery within the designated area of responsibility.

Ensure that all machinery remains operational and readily accessible at all times.

• Determine spare parts requirements and place orders in accordance with established mine procedures

• Liaise with clients and supervisors to provide updates on maintenance activities executed and equipment availability.

Ensure strict compliance with all established organizational policies, protocols, and operational guidelines to maintain consistency and alignment with company standards.

• Execute all duties and responsibilities outlined above while prioritizing health, safety, and environmental considerations.

Demonstrates flexibility by accepting overtime assignments, standby duties, and participation in shift rotations as needed.

A minimum of three years of hands-on experience in auto electrical systems within a mechanized mine environment, specifically involving underground haulage equipment, is required.

Obtained an Auto Electrical Trade Certificate through either a recognized apprenticeship program or an accredited institution, or achieved MIN COM Certification.

Underground mining experience would be highly beneficial.

Demonstrates a proactive and positive approach to safety, consistently identifying potential hazards and addressing them promptly to maintain a secure environment.
