MAA is currently recruiting skilled, seasoned, and driven individuals for the roles of Electrical – Instrumentation Technician, Radio Technician, and Auto Electrician to strengthen our team. This is a fixed-term contract position based in Quasi, offering a competitive work schedule at the company’s operational site. We are currently seeking a skilled Electrical-Instrumentation Technician to join our team, responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems across our facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both electrical and instrumentation engineering, with proficiency in interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Key responsibilities include installing, calibrating, and commissioning instrumentation devices, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and conducting preventive maintenance to minimize downtime. Additionally, the role requires the ability to diagnose complex system failures, perform corrective repairs, and document all activities in accordance with company protocols. A valid certification in electrical instrumentation or a related field, along with hands-on experience in industrial environments, is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team are critical for success in this position.

Reporting directly to the Electrical Foreman, the selected individual will uphold the safety of both themselves and their colleagues while performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on all underground electrical systems and equipment. The role places significant emphasis on adherence to safety protocols to ensure all personnel—including employees and subcontractors—possess the necessary qualifications to operate safely and effectively.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of critical duties and responsibilities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Perform tasks with precision, including project management, team coordination, and strategic planning to drive efficiency and productivity. Maintain meticulous attention to detail in documentation, reporting, and compliance with established policies and procedures. Collaborate effectively across departments to facilitate seamless communication and foster a cohesive work environment. Monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to optimize workflows and achieve key deliverables.

Perform preventive maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of motors, controls, process controls, and instrumentation with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Performs routine preventive and corrective maintenance on underground fixed plant instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems, which includes disassembling and replacing worn or broken components and realigning equipment as needed.

Operates process calibrators and controllers to configure, program, calibrate, and initiate plant instrumentation and control systems.

Responsibilities include conducting thorough inspections of electrical equipment, electronic systems, and telemetry devices to verify their proper functioning.

Suggest enhancements to instrumentation and control systems to improve efficiency and reliability.

Perform programming, troubleshooting, and repair operations on electrical equipment to ensure optimal functionality and reliability.

Perform scheduled electrical maintenance tasks in strict adherence to manufacturer guidelines, the Electrical Code, as well as company and client standard operating procedures and safety protocols.

To facilitate the efficient and timely execution of tasks while enhancing overall productivity, the incumbent will assess and arrange the necessary resources for each assignment, including essential tools, equipment, and additional personnel or support staff.

Thoroughly fill out all service sheets and meticulously record any supplementary repairs executed during each assignment.

Diagnose and foresee potential issues or impending failures, recommending appropriate corrective measures to mitigate risks.

Read and analyze service and spare parts manuals to extract relevant technical information and guidelines.

Conduct routine assessments of systems and essential equipment to ensure operational integrity and adherence to standards.

Demonstrate enthusiasm for acquiring new techniques and actively contribute to a collaborative environment by sharing your expertise with colleagues.

Ensure impeccable cleanliness and organization throughout the shop and at all job sites, upholding rigorous housekeeping standards at all times.

Required skills include proficiency in project management methodologies such as Agile or Scrum, with a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in a project management role. Strong leadership and team coordination abilities are essential to drive project success. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. Technical proficiency in project management software, such as Jira, Trello, or Asana, is required. Additionally, familiarity with risk management, budgeting, and resource allocation is necessary to ensure project objectives are met. A bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from an accredited university is required, along with at least five years of hands-on experience in hard rock underground mining environments. Alternatively, candidates with a diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering may qualify if they have a minimum of ten years of relevant experience in hard rock underground mining operations.

Proficient knowledge of the Mining Act and its associated regulatory frameworks in the Republic of Ghana is essential.

Applicants are required to hold a current Ghanaian driving license for Classes C and E, with demonstrated proficiency in operating manual SUV vehicles in underground environments.
