MAA is currently recruiting skilled, experienced, and driven Electrical – Instrumentation Technicians, Radio Technicians, and Auto Electricians to strengthen our team. A Radio Communication Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing radio communication systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This role involves configuring and troubleshooting transmitters, receivers, and antennas while adhering to industry standards and safety protocols. The position requires proficiency in electronic principles, familiarity with federal regulations, and the ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics. Strong problem-solving skills are essential, along with effective communication to collaborate with team members and report findings accurately. Candidates must possess a valid certification in radio communications or a related field, along with prior experience in a technical support or maintenance role.

Reporting to the Electrical Foreman, the ideal candidate will install, maintain, and repair radio communication systems and related equipment utilized in mining operations. This position plays a crucial role in guaranteeing uninterrupted communication among operational teams, thereby enhancing safety, operational efficiency, and on-site coordination.

Oversee a comprehensive range of critical duties and responsibilities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational excellence. Develop, implement, and monitor strategic initiatives to optimize performance and drive sustainable growth. Lead cross-functional teams to foster collaboration, innovation, and accountability while maintaining rigorous compliance with established policies and procedures. Analyze key performance indicators to identify trends, mitigate risks, and enhance decision-making processes. Serve as a primary liaison between senior management and departmental heads to streamline communication and facilitate cohesive workflows.

Install, configure, and thoroughly test radio communication equipment, such as handheld radios, base stations, repeaters, antennas, and related systems.

Perform preventive maintenance and regular inspections on radio communication systems to verify and maintain their optimal operational performance.

Diagnose and resolve any malfunctions or performance issues in radio communication equipment with urgency and accuracy.

Replace or mend defective parts promptly to reduce operational interruptions and maintain efficiency.

Update and maintain firmware and software for communication systems as required to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Monitor radio frequency (RF) networks to identify potential interference and verify adherence to regulatory standards.

Ensure precise documentation of equipment inventory, as well as repairs and maintenance timetables.

Deliver comprehensive training sessions and offer expert technical assistance to users of radio communication equipment.

Ensure communication devices are used and maintained correctly to maximize their operational longevity.

Strictly follow established safety protocols and regulatory guidelines when operating communication equipment.

• Maintain adherence to all applicable local and global communication regulations and guidelines.

• Maintain workplace safety by strictly observing all established mining safety protocols, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and consistently adhering to guidelines to mitigate accident risks.

Attend safety meetings regularly and actively assist in fostering a secure and compliant workplace.

Prepare and submit diverse reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis as assigned.

Required skills include proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau. Candidates must have strong problem-solving abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and the capacity to interpret complex datasets accurately. Excellent communication skills are essential for presenting findings clearly to stakeholders. Prior experience in a data-driven role, preferably in a financial or analytical capacity, is highly desirable. Familiarity with SQL for database querying and advanced Excel functions is a must. Additionally, the ability to work collaboratively in a team, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines is required.

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering from an accredited university, along with at least five years of professional experience in Hard Rock Underground Mines, is required. Alternatively, candidates holding a Diploma in Electrical/Electronic or Telecommunication Engineering may qualify with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience in Hard Rock Underground Mines.

Applicants must hold a current Ghanaian driving license, inclusive of Classes C and E, with proficiency in operating manual transmission SUVs underground.

Proven expertise in radio communication systems, VHF/UHF radios, and RF equipment is required.

Proven capability to effectively collaborate with both operational and non-operational staff and contractors, exhibiting exceptional communication and interpersonal proficiency.

Proficient knowledge of the Mining Act and its associated regulations within the Republic of Ghana is essential.
