Under the European Union’s sponsorship, Corinth initiated the Gold for Good project earlier this year in northern Ghana, designed to foster conflict-sensitive governance, environmental accountability, and improved institutional coordination in regions impacted by artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM). The program seeks to enhance the operational capabilities of local authorities, security personnel, and regulatory bodies to advance responsible natural resource stewardship and cultivate harmonious community relations.

Corinth is launching the recruitment for a Technical Coordinator – Peace and Security to oversee the security, enforcement, and conflict prevention aspects of this upcoming initiative, ensuring full technical and operational preparedness.

Oversee a comprehensive range of duties encompassing the planning, execution, and evaluation of core operational tasks to ensure organizational objectives are met with precision and efficiency. Duties include conducting thorough assessments of workflows, identifying areas for enhancement, and implementing strategic improvements to boost productivity and streamline processes. Additionally, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align initiatives with broader company goals, fostering a cohesive and results-driven work environment.

Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, the Technical Coordinator focused on Peace and Security will deliver expert technical leadership, strategic coordination, and rigorous quality assurance concerning security governance, law enforcement collaboration, and conflict-sensitive artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) management.

The successful candidate will collaborate with local authorities, regulatory agencies, and communities to establish coordinated, rights-based, and trust-building enforcement and oversight mechanisms for natural resource governance.

Technical leadership and coordination require guiding technical teams, aligning strategies with organizational goals, and ensuring efficient project execution. This involves fostering collaboration among cross-functional groups, resolving technical challenges, and maintaining high standards of innovation and quality. Position Title: Technical Coordinator – Peace and Security

This role involves overseeing technical aspects of peace and security initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and operational requirements. The Technical Coordinator will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, implement, and monitor projects that advance conflict prevention, crisis response, and sustainable peace building efforts. Responsibilities include managing technical resources, providing expert guidance to stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with best practices and industry standards. Candidates must possess advanced expertise in peace and security frameworks, along with strong analytical, project management, and interpersonal skills. Fluency in relevant technical tools, methodologies, and languages may be required, depending on the project scope. This position plays a critical role in bridging technical expertise with programmatic goals to drive impactful and sustainable outcomes in peace and security domains.

• Position requires on-site presence in Bole, Ghana, with regular travel to northern districts.

A 12-month contract term is required for this position.

The position requires a full-time commitment, equivalent to 100% of standard working hours.

Sits directly under the guidance and oversight of the Operations Manager, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and adherence to established operational standards.

Offer expert technical advice regarding the peace and security aspects associated with the governance of natural resources and artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM).

Direct oversight of diagnostic initiatives, capacity evaluations, and institutional assessments within designated districts will be your responsibility, ensuring thorough and strategic implementation throughout the process.

Facilitate seamless collaboration between law enforcement, environmental, and regulatory stakeholders to strengthen accountability and maximize operational efficiency.

• Verify that all diagnostics, training programs, action plans, and tools created as part of the project adhere to stringent technical and methodological requirements.

Integrate conflict sensitivity, human rights, gender, and environmental safeguards into all interventions to ensure comprehensive alignment with ethical and sustainable standards.

Provide assistance in establishing and implementing coordination mechanisms among District and Municipal Assemblies, Environmental Protection Agency, Minerals Commission, Police Service, Immigration Service, and traditional leaders to enhance collaborative efforts.

Provide assistance, where suitable, with the incorporation of project outcomes into district and national frameworks, such as ASM Action Plans, DMC structures, and EPA monitoring systems.

Evaluate technical reports, training modules, and consultant deliverables to ensure their accuracy and compliance with established standards.

You will be responsible for managing the design and implementation of customized training initiatives that cater specifically to enforcement personnel, environmental practitioners, and governance stakeholders.

Organize and, when necessary, lead technical workshops and training-of-trainers sessions, ensuring effective delivery and participant engagement.

Offer guidance and support to district-level institutions such as DMCs, DISEC’s, and Assemblies in technical matters to enhance their operational effectiveness.

Provide assistance for cross-agency field activities, including inspection initiatives and environmental assessment visits.

Ensure methodologies are grounded in community engagement, uphold human rights principles, and adapt to the specific security and governance challenges prevalent in the local setting.

Review and assess technical outputs, training materials, and consultant deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established standards.

To compile and widely share insights on coordinated enforcement and community engagement, documenting both lessons learned and effective practices.

This role is available for a fixed-term contract.

The position is offered on a fixed-term basis for a duration of 12 months.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required; a Master’s degree is preferred. Minimum five years of professional experience in software development, with at least three years in a leadership or team lead role. Proficiency in multiple programming languages, including but not limited to Java, Python, and C++, is essential. Experience with agile methodologies, cloud computing platforms, and DevOps practices is highly desirable. Demonstrated mastery in enhancing security sector governance, strengthening institutional capabilities, and fostering effective inter-agency collaboration.

Professionals will collaborate with various law enforcement and regulatory bodies, including but not limited to police departments, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Minerals Commission, Immigration Services, and Forestry Authorities.

Accomplished professionals should possess a robust background in conflict-sensitive program design, border governance frameworks, and community-focused policing initiatives.

Demonstrates a proven ability to collaborate effectively with government entities, local governing bodies, and customary institutions across West Africa, with a preference for candidates who have prior experience in Ghana.
