JOB DESCRIPTION:

MAA is actively seeking skilled, experienced, and driven professionals to fill the roles with Electrical – Instrumentation Technician, Radio Technician, and Auto Electrician, who will become integral members of our team. This fixed-term contract position is based in Quasi and offers a highly competitive compensation package, including a structured work schedule and a remuneration framework composed of an attractive base salary alongside performance-based incentives for suitable candidates.

Experienced Radio Communication Technician required to install, maintain, and repair radio communication systems. Responsible for ensuring optimal system performance, troubleshooting technical issues, and conducting regular inspections. Must possess strong technical expertise in radio frequency (RF) equipment, signal processing, and system diagnostics. Familiarity with FCC regulations and safety protocols is essential. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are critical. Ability to work independently or collaboratively in fast-paced environments. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required for field assignments.

The position reports directly to the Electrical Foreman and involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of radio communication systems and equipment utilized in mining operations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining uninterrupted communication between operational teams, thereby enhancing safety, operational efficiency, and on-site coordination.

Overseeing and executing a diverse range of critical tasks and obligations, this position encompasses comprehensive responsibilities that drive operational excellence and strategic growth. Key accountabilities include managing core functions with precision, leading cross-functional teams to achieve established objectives, and ensuring adherence to industry standards while fostering innovation. The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to deliver measurable results. Additionally, the position requires strong leadership capabilities, adaptability in dynamic environments, and a commitment to continuous improvement in processes and performance.

Install, configure, and perform tests on radio communication systems, encompassing handheld radios, base stations, repeaters, antennas, and related components.

Perform systematic preventive maintenance and thorough routine inspections of radio communication systems to verify and sustain optimal operational performance.

Diagnose and resolve radio communication equipment malfunctions in a timely and effective manner.

Replace or repair damaged components promptly to reduce operational interruptions and maintain system efficiency.

Update firmware and software for communication systems to ensure optimal performance and security as required.

Monitor radio frequency (RF) networks to detect potential interference and verify adherence to all applicable regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include diligently documenting equipment inventory, tracking repair activities, and ensuring adherence to maintenance schedules.

Deliver comprehensive training and technical assistance to users of radio communication equipment.

Ensure that communication devices are utilized and maintained correctly to maximize their operational lifespan.

Ensure strict compliance with all safety protocols and regulatory standards when operating communication equipment.

Ensure adherence to both local and international communication standards at all times.

• Maintain a safe working environment by strictly observing all mining safety regulations, consistently utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and diligently following established safety protocols to mitigate the risk of accidents.

Prepare all necessary daily, weekly, and monthly reports according to specified requirements.

A bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering from an accredited university, accompanied by at least five years of hands-on experience in hard rock underground mining environments, is essential. Alternatively, a diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering, combined with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience in hard rock underground mining operations, may be considered.

Must hold a current Ghanaian driver’s license for Class C and Class E vehicles, with proficiency in operating manual transmission SUVs in underground environments.

Accomplished professionals should possess demonstrated expertise in radio communication systems, including proficiency with VHF/UHF radios and RF equipment.

Capable of effectively engaging and influencing both operational and non-operational employees as well as contractors, with proven strengths in communication and interpersonal abilities.

Proficient knowledge of the Mining Act and its associated regulatory framework within the Republic of Ghana is essential.

• Proficient in utilizing signal analysis tools and diagnostic equipment for accurate assessments.

Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing and comprehending technical manuals and schematics with precision and accuracy.

Proficiency in rapidly acquiring new tasks, coupled with the capacity to instruct, guide, and develop fellow team members, is essential.
