To carry out the mid-term assessment of the Championing Nutrition and Gender Equality (CHANGE) Project in Ghana.

Conduct a thorough evaluation of the existing nutrition and health service frameworks, focusing specifically on the most economically disadvantaged and underserved groups—especially women and children—within the designated communities.

Review the status of critical outcome and output-level indicators as specified in the project’s Performance Measurement Framework (PMF).

Conduct thorough assessments to understand the perspectives of community members, local stakeholders, and prospective partners on topics such as nutritious food production, processing and storage, food security, and community resilience.

Evaluate the factors—both enabling and limiting—that affect the incorporation of gender-responsive nutrition strategies into district-level policies and programming.

Analyze contextual, programmatic, and institutional elements that either facilitate or impede the attainment of established goals and objectives.

Produce tangible insights and strategic recommendations to inform project adjustments and bolster overall effectiveness throughout the remainder of the implementation phase.

Primary data collection might encompass surveys, focus group discussions (FGDs), key informant interviews (Kids), and structured observation, depending on the methodology proposed.

A thorough examination of secondary data should encompass project reports, initial assessment results, district and regional health and nutrition statistics, as well as pertinent scholarly literature.

All methodologies and instruments employed must, where appropriate, enable disaggregation by sex and age.

The consultant is expected to employ participatory, inclusive, and ethically responsible approaches while strictly adhering to Children Believe’s policies on child safeguarding, protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA), data protection, and privacy protocols.

The inception report encompasses a polished methodology, a detailed work plan, a structured sampling approach, a comprehensive data collection strategy, and robust quality assurance measures.

Approved both quantitative and qualitative data collection instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability in research methodologies.

Engage in on-site fieldwork and conduct data collection activities within the designated project areas.

Prepare a comprehensive mid-term evaluation report that clearly outlines findings, incorporates detailed analysis, presents key conclusions, and offers strategic recommendations for consideration.

A comprehensive mid-term evaluation report, approximately 30 pages in length (excluding annexes), is required.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

A master’s or doctoral degree in public health, nutrition, international development, social sciences, management, sociology, social work, or a closely related field is essential, with advanced qualifications considered advantageous.

With a minimum of ten years of steadily increasing professional experience, you will have led or significantly contributed to participatory evaluations, research initiatives, or comprehensive reviews of intricate health, nutrition, maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH), or gender-focused programs.

Applicants should possess hands-on experience in Ghana within one or more of the following sectors: nutrition, maternal and child health, public health, gender equality, or community development.

A demonstrated expertise in gender analysis is essential; ideally, the team will include a dedicated gender specialist.
