The consultancy assignment is undertaken within a defined operational framework, necessitating a structured approach to address specific organizational challenges. The role requires a professional with expertise in strategic analysis, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement, capable of delivering actionable insights to enhance decision-making processes. Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive assessments, interpreting data trends, and formulating evidence-based recommendations tailored to the client’s objectives. Additionally, the position demands adaptability to evolving project demands and a commitment to achieving measurable outcomes within specified timelines.

Over the past three decades, Ghana has experienced a marked decline in climate conditions, with projections indicating further deterioration. Climate change poses significant threats to agricultural productivity, economic stability, and food security, with its effects intensifying as one moves from the coastal areas toward the northern Savannah region. Additionally, it undermines water availability, disrupts essential infrastructure, and exacerbates the spread of diseases. The Northern and Volta regions, where SIGMA operates, rank among the areas most susceptible to climate-related risks in the country. Highly vulnerable populations—particularly those reliant on natural resources or residing in high-risk zones—face disproportionate impacts, including women, girls, and the Fulani ethnic minority, whose livelihoods are centered around pastoralism.

SIGMA’s efforts are designed to bolster the resilience of Ghanaian citizens—with a strong focus on women, girls, and other vulnerable populations—by scaling up investments in inclusive, gender-responsive climate adaptation strategies. The initiative begins by offering technical assistance and capacity-building support to key institutions within Ghana’s Public Administration, alongside the provision of direct grants to five districts for the implementation of localized, gender-inclusive climate adaptation projects. Additionally, SIGMA collaborates with regional government stakeholders in the Northern and Volta regions, enhancing their capacity to design, execute, and track climate adaptation initiatives. Furthermore, the project forges partnerships with Ghanaian women-led civil society organizations (CSOs) to amplify women’s engagement, representation, and decision-making influence in public governance.
