To perform a mid-term assessment of the Championing Nutrition and Gender Equality (CHANGE) Project in Ghana.

Conduct a thorough evaluation of the existing nutrition and healthcare infrastructure, with a focus on the needs of the most economically disadvantaged and underserved groups—especially women and children—within the designated communities.

Review the progress of critical outcome and output-level indicators as defined in the project’s Performance Measurement Framework (PMF) to assess performance against established benchmarks.

To assess the perspectives and insights of community members, local stakeholders, and prospective partners on nutritious food production, processing, and storage, as well as food security and community resilience.

• Assess the factors that either facilitate or hinder the incorporation of gender-responsive nutrition strategies within district-level policies and programming.

Thoroughly assess the contextual, programmatic, and institutional influences that either facilitate or impede the realization of established objectives.

Craft actionable insights and strategic recommendations to guide project adjustments and improve overall effectiveness throughout the remainder of the implementation phase.

Primary data collection activities may encompass surveys, focus group discussions (FGDs), key informant interviews (Kids), and structured observation, depending on the approved methodology.

A thorough examination of secondary data must incorporate project reports, initial assessment results, district and regional health and nutrition statistics, as well as other pertinent published materials.

All methodologies and tools utilized must enable disaggregation by sex and age, wherever applicable.

The consultant is expected to employ participatory, inclusive, and ethically grounded methodologies while adhering to Children Believe’s stringent child safeguarding protocols, Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) standards, data protection guidelines, and privacy regulations.

The inception report will encompass a refined methodology, work plan, sampling approach, data collection plan, and quality assurance arrangements.

Developed and secured approval for quantitative and qualitative data collection instruments.

Conducting fieldwork and gathering data in the designated project areas constitute essential responsibilities of this role.

A mid-term evaluation report will be prepared to effectively communicate findings, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations.

A comprehensive mid-term evaluation report, excluding annexes, should be approximately 30 pages in length.

Provide cleaned datasets and analytical files, ideally in Excel format, along with all related supporting documentation as mutually agreed upon with Children Believe.

With a minimum of ten years of cumulative, progressively responsible experience, you will have led or significantly contributed to participatory evaluations, research initiatives, or comprehensive reviews of intricate health, nutrition, maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH), or gender-focused programs.

Experience in Ghana in nutrition, maternal and child health, public health, gender equality, or community development is required, with a proven track record of practical application in at least one of these areas.

A demonstrated expertise in gender analysis is essential, with a strong preference for including a dedicated gender specialist within the team.

Proven proficiency in written and verbal English communication is essential.
